#R2K Analysis: "Show You How To Love"

The first single from #R2K (The Roaring 2000’s: Beauties & The Beast) is a track called “Show You How To Love” It’s was actually a feature that I did with the homie ShuwnRay for his project “2:32 PM [Birth of a Tyrant]”. Soon as I heard it, I knew it was dope. It was produced by Anthem, who has done a lot of production in Huntsville as well as Atlanta. Some of his latest work is on Cy-Hi Da Prince newest project “Ivy League” (A-Town & Changed). The track samples some old school K.C. & JoJo In this song, we cover two sides of relations or relationship (depending on how you view it), ShuwnRay gives a more relaxed tone elaborating on the how good it feels to see that special some one and how it should be with that person. My verse is more on the stressful side that comes with being with an artist (part of that Mo’ Betta’ Blues influence I spoke on with my last blog), speaking on communication issues as a whole. Lyrically, ShuwnRay is more chill & connects to the female audience with what they want to hear. I’m more little bit amped saying what guys what to say to females, it also has that “signature 808’s & Headaches” type flow mixed with some change ups to keep it mello. The track alone is definitely H-Town influenced, from the 90’s era to the Screwed up era, you’ll be able to hear it all. Together it creates a balance that makes timeless music. The purpose of the song is really as simple as the title, to teach her how to love, wether it’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. I hear the rap version of those old “Mind, Body, & Soul” CD’s they sold on TV commercials when I’m listening to it. I chose this to being the first single of my project since ShuwnRay’s tape is out already (download that now) & since it’s been getting great reviews from some other DJ’s, Clubs, & other artist. We’ve collabed on other track since this one (Overdose & Dog In Me), but this is one of the best songs that show case our creativity.
